The peak season of Spring color continues with Flowering dogwoods,
Crabapples, Redbuds and Azaleas in full bloom throughout the grounds.
The English Woodland, Japanese, and Azalea/Rhododendron Gardens are
especially showy.
Tulips are at peak bloom in the bulb borders.
The displays of Pansies combined with Tulips in the Milles
Sculpture Garden are outstanding.
Enjoy the peak of bloom in the Shoenberg Temperate House. Masses
of purple and white African daisies (Osteospermum sp.) accompany the
showy Bottlebrush tree (Callistemon accuminatus) and the Wax flower
tree (Chamelaucium ciliatum), both from Australia. Pansies and Roses
(Rosa 'Sunsprite') decorate the tiled Moorish fountain. Look on the
rock wall beneath the grape arbor for the dramatic yellow spikes of
Verbascum arcturus from Crete.
Enjoy the intense fragrance of Jasmine (Jasminum polyanthemum) in
the Linnean House. The brilliant yellow flowers of the Canary Island
broom standards (Genista canariensis) impart a pleasant scent. The
Camellias are nearly finished, but a few beautiful blossoms remain.
Fairy primrose (Primula malacoides) and Cyclamen fill the house with
vibrant color.
