Hybrid Peonies (Paeonia spp.) will be near peak bloom in the Japanese
Garden by week's end.
Woodland wildflowers and azaleas are showy in the English Woodland Garden.
Standard Dwarf bearded and many Tall bearded iris are in bloom in the Goodman
Iris Garden.
The Princess trees (Paulownia tomentosa) in the Knolls are past peak bloom,
but still showy.
Don't miss the unusual and beautiful flowers of the carnivorous American pitcher
plants (Sarracenia sp.) in the Shoenberg Temperate House. Accompanying the
carnivores in the bog are the blossoms of Rose pogonia orchid (Pogonia
ophioglossoides). The California slope is ablaze with the bright colors of
annual wildflowers.
The sweet aroma of jasmine (Trachelospermum mandianum) wafts through the
Linnean House. Also stop to smell the bright yellow fragrant blooms of the
Canary Island broom (Genista canariensis). Double impatiens
(Impatiens walleriana 'Fiesta Lavender Orchid') are featured in the
hanging baskets.
