Hardy trees and shrubs for special environmental conditions

Ammodendron
Fabaceae, alternative name Leguminosae

Ammodendron bifolium (Pall.) Yakovl.

Siberia (southwestern regions) and Central Asia (eastern and central regions). On sandy soil.

Shrub 0.3-0.4 m. Leaves silver-grey, lanceolate, 2-3 cm. Flowers purple-violet. Extremely heat and drought resistant. Good for stabilizing sandy banks. Z 6 (5). New.

Ammodendron conollyi Bunge

Central Asian deserts.

Small tree or shrub. Leaves lanceolate, 5-6 cm. Flowers dark violet. Extremely heat and drought resistant. Good for stabilizing sand. Z 6. New.
