			Species of this genus have been referred to Anemone by
			previous authors and occur throughout Eurasia, of which 13
			species in the FSU.
			 A. crinitum (Juz.) Holub (syn. Anemone
			crinita Juz.)
			 Siberia (in mountains in its southern border) and northern
			Mongolia.  Meadows, forest edges, grassy slopes.
			 Taproot long branched at the top.  Flowering stem 40-60 cm,
			robust, erect.  Basal leaves long petiolate, light green,
			woolly-pubescent dissected into 3 to 5 segments; involucral
			leaves large, dissected into many segments.  Umbel-like
			inflorescence (cyme) of 5 to 10 large white flowers 4-5 cm diam.
			V - April to October.  Fl - mid-spring.  Fr - August - September.
			P - by seed.  Flowers in the third year after sowing.  Does
			well in partial shade.  Very cold-resistant.  Z 3.  New.
			 Also of horticultural interest are closely related species.
			 A. fasciculatum (L.) Holub.  (syn. Anemone
			fasciculata L.)
			 Caucasus.  Alpine and subalpine meadows, cliffs.
			 Flowering stems 15-50 cm, robust.  Leaves 5-dissected, dense
			pubescent.  Flowers in umbel, numerous, large (4 cm in diam.),
			white or pink.  Z 4.  New.
			 A. biarmiense (Juz.) Holub.  (syn. Anemone
			biarmiensis Juz.)
			 Ural Mountains.  Meadows, rocky places.
			 Differs by smaller flowers (1.8-3.0 cm in diam.), flowering
			stem 15-65 cm.  Leaves 3-dissected.  Z 4 (3).  New.
			 A. protractum (Ulbr.) Holub.  [syn. Anemone
			protracta (Ulbr.) Juz.]
			 Central Asia.  Mountain meadows, rocky places.
			 Flowering stem 7-60 cm.  Flowers 2-4 cm in diam.  Leaves
			3-dissected.  Z 4 (3).  New.
