Hardy trees and shrubs for special environmental conditions

Spiraea
Rosaceae

Spiraea crenata L. - Spirea

Northern Khazakstan and adjacent regions of the western Siberia, Caucasus and Europe. Forest-steppe, steppe, and semidesert.

Shrub 1.5m, with slender arching branches. Flowers white, in numerous umbel-like inflorescences. Cold resistant. Z 4 (3).

Spiraea flexuosa Fisch. ex Cambess. [S. elegans Pojark.], - Spirea

Eastern Siberia, Far East (Amur River basin and Primorskiy Region) and northern Mongolia. Rocky hills.

Shrub 1 m. Leaves oblong-lanceolate 5.5 x 2.5 cm. Inflorescence of 6-14 white flowers. Resistant to urban pollution. Dislikes acid soil. Z 5 (4).
