Graduate Studies
Students Who Will Make a Difference
They arrive from around the world - the best and brightest, future botanists with the potential to become exceptional scientists.

The Missouri Botanical Garden's resources and worldwide connections make it an ideal launching pad for future botanists. More than two dozen students a year study at the Garden, about half from other countries.

The Garden's graduate program in plant systematics operates in conjunction with Washington University, St. Louis University, University of Missouri - St. Louis, and Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville.

The exceptional faculties and programs at these universities, particularly in population biology and genetics, tropical biology, ecology and molecular biology - combined with the Garden's world-class herbarium, library, greenhouse facilities and research staff - make this one of the world's leading programs for graduate training in systematics and evolutionary botany. The Garden's commitment to tropical research provides students with outstanding opportunities for field-oriented studies.

Over the past century, more than 340 students have completed graduate training at the Garden and joined the international scientific community.
