On this date in 1859, the Missouri Botanical Garden opened its doors to the public, making it the oldest botanical garden in continuous operation in the country. In honor of the Garden’s 150th anniversary, visitors enjoy discounted admission of $1.50 all day long!

Enjoy a wide variety of activities prepared in honor of Garden founder Henry Shaw’s 207th birthday. Meet an actor playing Henry Shaw, tour Shaw’s home, enjoy old-fashioned entertainment including an organ grinder, a silhouette artist, a stilt walker, actors in Victorian fashions, and birthday refreshments. Bring your bike and take a five-mile tour of Tower Grove Park too.
