Flowering cherries are now in bloom in the Japanese Garden.
Magnolias have never looked better than they do this week. Early
Tulips and Daffodils are in full bloom, and Redbuds are just beginning
to bloom in many locations throughout the Garden.
The displays of Pansies combined with Tulips in the Milles
Sculpture Garden are outstanding.
A few early Azaleas and Rhododendrons are blooming in the Lopata
Azalea and Rhododendron Garden.
Enjoy the peak of bloom in the Shoenberg Temperate House. Masses
of flowering Cyclamen and purple and white African daisies
(Osteospermum sp.) accompany the showy California lilac (Ceanothus
'Ray Hartmann') and fragrant yellow Broom (Chamaecytisus glaber).
Fairy primroses, Easter lilies and Cineraria decorate the tiled
Moorish fountain. Look on the rock wall beneath the grape arbor for
the dramatic yellow spikes of Verbascum arcturus from Crete.
The Camellias are past their peak of bloom in the Linnean House,
but are still quite lovely. Cyclamen and Primrose decorate the beds
below the Camellias, accompanied by the sweet scent of Jasmine
(Jasminum polyanthemum).
Hellebores, spring bulbs and Magnolias are showy in the English
Woodland Garden.
There are many plants of interest in the Climatron® Geodesic
Greenhouse this week.
