Iris are in full bloom in the Goodman Iris Garden. Peonies are in full
bloom in the Japanese Garden.
Climbing roses are blooming in the Gladney Rose Garden. Don't miss the
magnificent Rosa 'Doubloons' trained over the arched gate on the east side
of this garden.
Hybrid rugosa roses and old-fashioned Shrub roses are in full bloom in
the Lehmann Rose Garden. Many Floribunda and Hybrid tea roses are
beginning to flower.
Large-flowered Rhododendrons in the Lopata Azalea and Rhododendron
Garden are now at peak bloom.
In the Shoenberg Temperate House, fragrant Spanish broom (Spartium
junceum) fills the upper level with its sweet aroma. Spring
wildflowers are blooming on the California slope, including California
poppies (Eschscholzia californica), Bush money flower (Mimulus
aurantiacus), Springville clarkia (Clarkia springvillensis), and Chinese
houses (Collinsia heterophylla).
Enjoy the fragrance of Confederate jasmine (Trachelospermum
mandianum) in the Linnean House. The Camellias are finished for the
year, but a few scattered blossoms remain here and there. Showy
Canary Island broom (Genista canariensis) decorates the foutain,
imparting a sweet scent.
