Tall bearded Iris are at peak bloom in the Goodman Iris Garden.
Peonies are in full bloom in the Japanese Garden.
"Old fashioned" roses are in full bloom in the Lehmann Rose Garden.
Climbing roses are in full bloom in the Gladney Rose Garden. Modern shrub
roses are becoming showy in both of these gardens.
Kousa dogwoods (Cornus kousa) are now in bloom. Enjoy the sweet scent of
the Linden trees (Tilia spp.) growing in many locations on the grounds.
A few rhododendrons are still showy in the Lopata Azalea and Rhododendron
Garden.
Spanish broom (Spartium junceum) fills the Shoenberg Temperate House
with its rich aroma. Mediterranean wildflowers, including brilliant red poppies
from Israel (Papaver carmelii), carpet the upstairs section. The Venus
flytraps (Dionaea muscipula) have woken from their winter sleep and are
growing fast, and lush new pitchers (Sarracenia sp.) are emerging in the
carnivorous plant bog.
Smell the heavenly aroma of jasmines (Jasminum polyanthemum and
Trachelospermum mandianum) in the Linnean House. Jasmine and Chenile
plant (Acalypha pendula 'Firetails') are featured in the hanging baskets.
