A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Borbonia,-ae (s.f.I) Insula: the French Island of Réunion, before 1848 known as Bourbon Island in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar, part of Mascarene Islands; adj. borbonicus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- [moss] Sphagnum tenellum recentiores dicunt, sed speciem propriam nullatenus sistit. Eamdem varietatem ex Insula Borbonis allatam possideo, more recent [authors] call it Sphagnum tenellum, but it by no means represents a proper species species. I possess the same variety brought from the Isle of Borbon.

- [lichen] supra saxa Insularum Mauritii et Borboniae (lectum a pluribus collectoribus, Commerson, Bory de St-Vincent, Richaard, etc.). Plagas saepe latas dense stipatum formare videtur (Nyl.), on the stone of the islands of Mauritius and of [the Island of] Bourbon [i.e. Reunion] (collected by many collectors, [such as] Commerson, Bory de St-Vincent, Richaard, etc. It seems they are often crowded together to form wide patches.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
