| Like a natural woodland, this garden consists of three vegetation layers: an upper tree layer or canopy; a middle shrub layer; and a lower layer of herbaceous plants. Several small glades permit the sun to penetrate the canopy overhead. In Spring, dogwoods, trillium, Virginia bluebells, winter aconite, and azaleas blossom. In the Summer, hostas are abundant. In Autumn, the foliage takes on glorious fall colors. |
