A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Archicarp, “in ascomycetous Fungi, the beginning of a fructification, the cells or group of cells fertilized by a sexual act” (Jackson); “(of ascomycetes), the cell, hypha, or coil which later becomes the fruit body or part of it” (Ainsworth & Bisby): archicarpium,-ii (s.m.II), abl. sg. archicarpio [> Gk. archi-, primitive: original: primary + carpos, a fruit]; cf. procarp, trichogyne; see -carpium,-ii (s.n.II).

parthenogamia,-ae (s.f.I), also parthenomixis,-is (s.f.III), abl. sg. parthenomixe, “copulation between two ‘female’ cells, esp. of an archicarp” (Ainsworth & Bisby).

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
