A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Diva,-ae (s.f.I): a goddess; as a noun, (female) ‘saint’ [fem. of divus,-i (s.m.II), q.v.]; see divus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- Decembri mense, in nemore Monialium Divae Ursulae (Mich.), in the December month, in the grove of the nuns of Saint Ursula.

- Ultra Juguli Plebaniam in Castaneto Monialium Divæ Felicitatis, & in umbrosis ambulacris viridarii Boboli (Dill.), beyond the parsonage of the Jugulum [Plebania Juguli] in the Chestnut [Castanea] grove of the nuns of Saint Felicity, and in the shaded promenade of the Viridarium [i.e. Garden] of Boboli.

Diva Perpetua, Diva Felicitas = Saints Perpetua and Felicity, Christian martyrs.

- Per ericeta, myrteta, atque Imprunetae praedia, praesertim circa Divae Сhristinae Теmplum, necnon in Divi Antonii Моnte (Mich.), throughout Erica associations, Myrtle-associations [Myrtus L.] and also the estate of Impruneta, especially around the Temple of Saint Christina, and also on the mountain of Saint Antony (Sanctus Antonius).

NOTE: Impruneta is presently a town and commune of Florence (Italy).

- in fornice fontis cujusdam diruti Eremuli Sanctissimae Virgini Маriae, & Divae Саtharinae V.ac М. dicati in summitate Моntis Мurelli (Mich.), on the arch [vault] of the well of some [i.e. unnamed] ruined little hermitage dedicated to the most Holy Virgin Mary and Saint Catharine V. and M. on the summit of Mount Murell.

- Сirca Аltum Passum, & Сastrum Divae Мariae ad Моntem, necnon in maritimis Рisanis (Mich.), around the high pass and Castle of Saint Mary on the Mountain, and also in the maritime places of Pisa.

NOTE: Castrum Sanctae Mariae, presently an Italian oppidum and municipium.

- ad Ulmos, mense Оctobri, in Casiniani Paroecia, in nemore Мопialium Divae Felicitatis, nuncupato ‘il Воso di Bruco’ (Mich.), on Elms in the month of October, in the Casinian Parish, in the woodland grove of the nuns of Saint Felicity, called ‘il Boso di Bruco.’

- Меnse Novembri, in Вoboli, per nemuscula circa Divae Brigidae portam (Mich.), in the November month, in Boboli, throughout the little grove around the gate of Saint Brigit.

- in Мonialium Divae Felicitatis nemore, per Divi Zenobii Рагоеciam, Меnse Оctobri (Mich.), in the grove of the nuns of Saint Felicity, throughout the Parish of Saint Zenobius, in the October month.

- [63.
