A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Olus,-eris (s.n.III), abl. sg. olere, nom. & acc. pl. olera, gen. pl. olerum, dat. & abl. oleribus (holus,-eris (s.n.III), q.v., abl. sg. holere): kitchen or garden herbs of any kind; vegetables, esp. cabbage, colewort, turnips, greens. (Lewis & Short); cf. ‘legume,’ i.e. beans, other plants with edible seeds.

- olera praemordica, vegetables or greens “of which only the tops are eaten (e.g. asparagus)” (Lewis & Short).

Olerarium,-ii (s.n.II), abl.sg. olerario; holerarium,-ii (s.n.II), abl.sg. holerario: vegetable garden, kitchen garden; see garden.

Olusculum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. olusculo, holusculum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. holuscolo: a small herb or vegetable; a little cabbage.

[Apiaceae] Olusatrum,-i L. (s.n.II) “olus + atrum, black herb, from ‘olus,’ garden herb; ‘ater,’ black; in allusion to the black seeds of this umbellifer” (Stearn 1996).
