A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Prostome, (in mosses) irregular projections or thickenings external to the peristome; a rudimentary structure outside and usually adhering to the main peristome tooth, as in Orthotrichaceae, Pterobryaceae; (in bryophytes) “a rudimentary structure outside, and usually adhering to, the main peristome teeth; e.g. Pterobryaceae” (Magill), = preperistome: prostomium,-ii(s.n.II), abl.sg. prostomio; also prostoma,-atis (s.n.III), abl.sg. prostomate; also preperistomium,-ii (s.n.II), abl.sg. prestomio.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
