A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Aciculae,-arum (plural f.I of acicula,-ae (s.f.I)), acc. pl. aciculas, dat.& abl. pl. aciculis: [in pl. aciculae] “tooth-like extensions which cover the fructiferous face of a distinct or membranous pileus among Fungals” (Lindley); tooth-like processes of the hymenium of certain hymenomycetous fungi (Jackson).

- ac fructificantis forma diversissima, aciculae punctoriae minutulae ex omni capite aequiparanda (S&A), and the highly diverse form of the fructification, to be compared with the rather tiny puncturing bristle from the whole head.

- unde aciculae punctoriae ligno altius infixae haud inepte aequiparandus fungillus noster (S&A), [whence] our fungillus is not ineptly compared to the punctorial aciculus more deeply thrust into the wood.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
