A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Aesculus,-i (s.f.II), abl.sg. aesculo: “the ancient name of some Oak or other mast-bearing tree” (Fernald 1950); “a variety of oak-tree, perhaps either durmast or Hungarian oak” (Glare); see oak;

- [fungi] truncigenum et nos utplurimum invenimus (in Salicibus Caprea et alba L. rarius in Fago ac Aesculo) (S&A), produced on [tree] trunks and we ourselves nearly always encounter it (on Salix caprea and [S.] alba L., more rarely on Fagus and Aesculus).

- [fungi] ad cortices lignave nuda Aesculorum pagi nostri passim, sed infrequens (S&A), on the barks or naked [i.e. decorticated] woods of the Aesculus everywhere in our district, but infrequent.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
