A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

alibi (adv.): elsewhere, in another place; otherwise, in other respects; cf. ibi (adv.), (of space) there, on that spot, at, or in that place; cf. nullibi (adv.) (of space) nowhere, in no place.

alibique, ‘and elsewhere; ’

- South Port, Tasmaniae. Stuart. Alibique in terra Van Diemen ex ill. J. Hooker (Muell.), South Port, of Tasmania. Stuart. And elsewhere in Van Diemen territory according to the celebrated J. Hooker.

- [Lepiotus colubrinus: fungi] Hab. utraque var. in cortice vaporario frequens; sed vix alibi (S&A), each variety dwells on vaporarium-bark, common; but hardly elsewhere [i.e. anywhere else].

- Asia centralis, alibi culta vel inquilina, central Asia, elsewhere cultivated or introduced.

- South Port, Tasmaniae. Stuart. Alibique in terra Van Diemen ex ill. J. Hooker (F. Mueller), South Port, Tasmania. Stuart. And elsewhere in Van Diemen land by the illustrious J. Hooker.

- ad sinum Port Phillip alibique ( F. Mueller), at the bay of Port Philli and elsewhere.

- Patria. Insula Teneriffa, ad summam vallem Orotaviensem in fissuris rupium, quas incolae los Organos dicunt, nec alibi: Webb (C. Mueller), the island Teneriffe, at the highest valley of Orotaviensis in the fissures of rocks [or cliffs], which the inhabitants call los Organos, not elsewhere.

- in rupibus humidis soli et tempestati expositis, montium altissimorum ad locum Mountain Station dictum, rivulo Krombeks vicinum, et alibi in jurisdictione Zwellendam: (C. Mueller), on damp rocks exposed to the sun and [bad weather], of the highest mountains, at a place called Mountain Station, near to the (little) river Krombeks, and elsewhere in the jurisdiction of Zwellendam.

- infloresc. praecedentis, quacum notis illustratis nunquam confundi potest, pulcherrima species, alibi forsan praetervisa (C. Mueller), with the inflorescence of the preceding, by which, with the characters illustrated, it is never able to be confused, a most beautiful species, otherwise perhaps overlooked.

- [L. quercinum; fungi]caespites magni. Radices copiosae, longae. Frequens crescit haec species in cortice vaporario (Seer Allee), nec alibi hactenus: ceteris contemporalis (S&A), clumps large. Roots copious, long. This common species grows on vaporarium bark (Seer Allee), up to the present, not elsewhere, living during the same time [i.e. period] as the others [i.e. species].

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
