A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
aliquantulum (adv.), aliquantulo (adv.): somewhat, a little, in some degree; see somewhat;

- locus genericus nobis aliquantulum incertus restat, the generic placement with us remains somewhat uncertain.

- Habitu Hypno cordifolio aliquantulum simile, by the habit somewhat similar to Hypnum cordifolium.

- folia haud exacte disticha, aliquantulum spiraliter disposita (F. Mueller), the leaves hardly precisely distichous, somewhat spirally arranged.

- (algae) Hab. ad rupes aliquantulum demersas obscuriusculas currentibusque expositas (Agardh), it grows on rocks somewhat sunken in the water, somewhat darkened and exposed to the currents.

- (algae) frondes a basi scutata plures, stipite brevissimo in laminam cuneato-linearem marginibus aliquantulum inflexis (Agardh), many fronds at the base scutate [i.e. shaped like a shield], with a very short stipe into a cuneate-linear blade with the margins somewhat inflexed.

- (algae)frons statu recenti flaccida, aliquantulum gelatinosa, the frond in the fresh state flaccid, a little gelatinous.

- (algae) articuli nunc aliquantulum breviores, nunc diametro parum longiores (Agardh), the joints sometimes a little shorter, sometimes somewhat longer in diameter.

- color flavidus aliquantulum diaphanus, the color yellowish, somewhat clear.

- fronde aliquantulum angustiore, with the frond somewhat narrower. aliquantum (adv.), aliquantus (adv.): (with reference to quantity) somewhat, in some quantity either great or small; in some degree; see somewhat, slightly, moderately;

- ad basim plerumque aliquantum rotundata, at the base usually somewhat rounded.

- rami basi aliquantum contracti, the branches at the base somewhat contracted.

- genus aliquantum magis, a genus somewhat large.

- sepalis aliquantum brevioribus et angustioribus, with the sepals somewhat shorter and narrower.

- locus genericus nobis aliquantulum incertus restat, the generic placement with us remains somewhat uncertain.

- substantia tenera et imprimis aliquantum pressa laesionis locum colore pulchre sanguineo tingit, the substance is delicate and primarily when pressed in some degree the place of the injury stains with a beautifully blood-red color.

- placentas mox teretes, mox e basi rotundata angustiore sursum aliquantum incrassatas (S&A), the placentas soon round, soon from a rounded, narrower base, somewhat thickened upwardly.

- junior globoso - depressus est, vertice planiusculo: in formam dein obconicam crescens aliquantum collabitur (S&A), the younger is globose-depressed, somewhat flattish at the apex: finally collapsed growing into a somewhat obconic shape.
