A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
aniseus,-a,-um (adj.A): flavored or smelling of anise-seed; “partaking of the scent of Anise, Pimpinella Anisum L.” (Jackson);

- [fungus] odor in hac quoque specie distinctus, diu persistens, constans, aniseus (S&A), the odor in this species also distinct, persistent a long time, invariable, like Anise.

- [fungus] odor constans, dulcis, aniseus, penetrans, persistens, eminus in sylvis percipiendus, conclavia tota inficiens (S&A), a steady odor, sweet, like anise-seed, penetrating [i.e. pungent], persistent, which ought to be perceived at some distance in forests, infecting the whole assemblage.

- [fungus] summam cum O. cochleata affinitatem produnt habitus, substantia , odor (in aliis quidem vix ullus , sed in aliis suavis aniseus) etc. (S&A), the habit [appearance], substance [i.e. tissue], odor (indeed in some with scarcely any, but in others pleasant, anise-smelling) bear [i.e. show] the highest affinity with O. cochleata.
