A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
annulatus,-a,-um (adj.A): “surrounded by elevated rings or bands, or by scars in the form of rings” (Lindley); = annularis,-e (adj.B), annuliformis,-e (adj.B) “ring-shaped” (Jackson); ); “furnished with rings” (Stearn 1996); marked with rings, surrounded by raised rings or bands, having a ring; having an annulus; (in fungi) “(of a stipe) bearing an ‘annulus’ or ‘ring” (S&D); cf. armillatus,-a,-um (adj.A), ‘braceletted;’ see annularis,-e (adj.B);

- caudex annulatus vel raro cicatricatus, trunk marked with rings or rarely scarred (with scars).

- palma elata, caudice robusto annulato medio v. altius incrassato, interdum apicem versus furcato v. pauci-ramoso (B&H), a tall palm, with the caudex robust, marked with rings, thickened in the middle or higher, sometimes forked toward the apex or few-branched.

- [fungus] cortina subannulata (S&A), with the cortina with a slight annulus [i.e. somewhat annulate.

- [moss] theca erecta subcylindrica annulata subapophysata (C. Muell.), theca erect, slightly cylindric, possessing an annulus, slightly apophysate.

- [Sphagnum] dorso pori multi minuti annulati in series ad commissuras dispositi (Warnst.), on the back many minute annulate [i.e. ringed] pores arranged in a row at the commissures.

- [Sphagnum] folia superne tenuiter serrulata, interiore superficie poris multis minutis annulatis instrueta, (Warnst.), leaves upwardly [i.e. distally] finely serrulate, on the inner surface provided with many minute ring-shaped pores.

Sphagnum annulatum

exannulatus,-a,-um (adj.A): lacking an annulus;

- capsula erecta, microstoma, exannulata (Austin), with the capsule erect, with a small mouth, lacking an annulus.

semiannulatus,-a,-um (adj. A): semiannular, in the form of half of a ring, semicircular, U-shaped, q.v.
