A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

benignus,-a,-um (adj.A); compar. benignior,-ius (adj.B); benignissimus,-a,-um (adj.A): kind, pleasing, friendly, good; beneficent, obliging; of things, yielding liberally, abundant, fruitful, fertile, copious, rich; generous; opp. malignus,-a,-um (adj.A), ill-disposed, wicked.

- [Leguminosae; Barklya] Genus Morae forsan proximum, summa cum veneratione dicatum praenobili Henrico Barkly, ordinis balnei equiti, coloniae Victoriae gubernatori, fautori meo semper benignissimo (F.Mueller), the genus, perhaps the closest to Mora [i.e. blackberry or mulberry], has been dedicated with the highest respect to the most noble Henry Barkley, knight of the Order of the Bath, governor [dat.sg.] of the Victoria colony, always my most kind patron.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
