Frankincense, incense: libanus,-i (s.m.II), abl.sg. libano, frankincense (pure Latin = ‘tus’) (Lewis & Short); olibanum,-i (s.n.II), q.v., abl.sg. olibano; tus, gen.sg. turis (s.n.III), abl.sg. ture = Gk. thyos (s.n.III); also thus, gen.sg. turis (s.n.III), abl.sg. ture, nom. & acc. pl. tura [> Gk. thuos,-eos (s.n.II), burnt sacrifice; a cake (Liddell & Scott); also thyon (s.n.II): thyine-wood, citron-wood, Callitris quadrivavis; = thyos, in pl. thya (pl.n.II), burnt-offerings, or incense (Liddell & Scott]) see incense.

Boswellia sacra (Burseraceae), whose aromatic gum resin, once used medicinally, is a source of frankincense (olibanum), used in incense and perfumes.
