A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
hesperius,-a,-um (adj.A): of or situated towards the west, western, Hesperian; " 'western,' of the evening star, i.e. the planet Venus; of the west 'referring variously to Italy, Spain, etc.; the remote and mythical west" (Glare).

Hesperia,-ae (s.f.I) [s.c. terra] was used poetically in the classical period to refer to Italy or Spain (Lewis & Short).

- Terra Hesperia, the land of the west ,i.e. Italy (because situated to the west of the Trojans).

Hesperonychus, 'western-claw', a dinosaur genus of western North America.
