A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Juice: latex, laticis (s.m.III), abl.sg. latice: 'juice, fluid, liquid' often milky, colored, viscous; cremor,-oris (s.m.III): a thick juice derived from animal or vegetable substances, thick broth, pulp, cream; succus (sucus),-i (s.m.II), abl. sing. succo (suco), q.v. 'juice, sap'; juice of the grape, succi uvae (succi in nom. pl.), melligo uvae (when still unripe); cf. exsudatum,-i (s.n.II), exudate; also lac, gen.sg. lactis (s.n.III); cf. jus, juris (s.m.III), abl. sg. jure, see broth, soup, see nectar; see sap;

- herbae succo croceo praeditae, herbs with juice saffron-coloured provided (Stearn 1983).

- arbor succo viscido lacteo dives, tree rich in viscid milky juice (Stearn).

NOTE: in pharmaceutical Latin, ‘juice:’ succus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. succo.

- lime juice, succus limettae, lime juice, juice of the lime; see lime (the fruit).

- (Pharm.) Succus limonis, lemon juice.
Juice, milky: lac, gen. sg. lactis (s.n.III), q.v., abl. sg. lacte.
