A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
keeled, sharply folded along the middle like the keel of a boat: carinatus,-a,-um (adj.A); cymbiformis,-e (adj.B): boat-shaped, scaphoid, both concave and keeled, or broadly boat-shaped; “concave and broadly boat-shaped; naviculatus,-a,-um (adj.A), a shape, generally apical, such as in a moss leaf, that is both concave and keeled with an acute apex; scaphoideus,-a,-um (adj.A), scaphoid, boat-shaped, q.v., keeled and concave; cf. canaliculatus,-a,-um (adj.A), ‘channelled;’ see boat-shaped;

- perianthio 6-9-carinata differt, it differs by the perianth 6-9-keeled.

- glumae concavae tergo rotundatae vel carinatae, glumes concave on the back rounded or keeled.

- valvis carinatis navicularibus (DeCandolle), with the valves carinate, navicular.

- valvis carinatis aut valde concavis, with the valves keeld or strongly concave.
