A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Labrum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. labro:

1. a lip, as of a "hysterothecium";

- labrum superius, abl. sg. labro superiore, upper lip;

- labrum inferius, abl. sg. labro inferiore, lower lip (note the adjectives are both neuter comparatives and end in -ius in the nominative singular).

2. edge, margin, rim, lip, brim (of a vessel, a ditch); to do

- labrum fossae, edge of a ditch or trench.

- labra doliorum, the brims or rims of dolia [large, wide-mouthed jars).

- labrum cultri, the edge of a knife.
Labrum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. labro (short for lavabrum,-i (s.n.II), ‘a bathing tub’): a basin, a tub for bathing; a vat such as for making wine; a bath for bathing;

- marmoreo labro aqua exundat, the water pours out froma marble basin.

- labrum fontis, the basin of a fountain.
