Nubes,-is (s.f.III), abl. sg. nube, nom. & acc. pl. nubes, dat. & abl. pl. nubibus: a cloud; a dark spot; “a cloud, thick multitude, dense mass, swarm” (Lewis & Short); cloudiness; a veil, obscurity, concealment; a storm cloud; cf. nimbus,-i (s.n.II); cf. nebula,-ae (s.f.I); see cloud;

- nubes,-is (s.f.III) pulverea, abl. sg. nube pulverea, cloud of dust.

- nubes,-is (s.f.III), abl. sg. nube aetheria (adj.A), a cloud.

- aer concretus in nubes cogitur, the air condensed gathered together into clouds.

- aquae de nubibus destillatae, waters dropped down from the clouds.

- [Lichen, Tremella] locis umbrosis humidis versus culmina montium Indiae occidentalis, inter nubes occultata, praecipue vigent virentque Cryptogamae numerosae, quarum species plures incognitos in Pródromo exstant (Swartz), moist shady places toward the summits of western India, hidden among the clouds, numerous Cryptogams particularly flourish and are verdant, many species of which appear unknown in the Prodromus.
