A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
parvulus,-a,-um (adj.A): very small, rather small, little, petty, slight; (of age) little, young; deficient, too little;

- [algae] fila decumbentia, tenuissima, (ita ut sudo oculo singula non conspicua sint) fragillima, ideoque in parvula frustula variae longitudinis disrupta, (Agardh), the filaments decumbent [i.e. prostrate with the tip raised], very thin (such that with the naked eye they [individually] might be not conspicuous) extremely fragile, such that they are broken apart into small frustules of different lengths.

- [Physcomitrium; moss] parvulum subacaule (C.Mueller), very small, nearly stemless.

- [moss] calyptra parvula cucullata usque ad medium fissa (C. Mueller), calyptra very small, cucullate split as far as the middle.

- [lichen] thallus ater parvulus, firmus, peltatus (Nyl.), thallus dull black, rather small, firm, peltate.

- [lichen] apothecia pallida vel pallide rufa, epithecio demum convexiusculo, párvula (Nyl.), apothecia pale or a pale reddish, with the epithecium finally somewhat convex, rather small.

- flores parvuli (B&H), the flowers rather small.

- herba cespitosa, parvula, rigida, habitu Arabldis (B&H), herbs sod-forming, rather small, rigid, with the habit of Arabid.

- petalis ovatis acutiusculis mericarpiisque parvulis (F. Mueller), with the petals ovate, somewhat acute, and with rather small mericarps.

- bracteae scapi 1-3 párvulae appressae (F. Mueller), bracts of the scape 1-3, rather small, appressed.

- [fungi] ostiolo centrali parvulo subconico (S&A), with the ostiole central, rather small, somewhat conic.

- [fungi] membrana cuivis individuo propria parvula orbiculari fibrillosa alba stipes exsurgit (S&A), the stipe arises from a special, rather small, orbicular, fibrillose, white membrane, for any particular individual whatever.

Brachycome parvula; Eleocharis parvula, “very small” (Fernald 1950).
