NOTE: here the abl.sg. ends in –I; the neuter forms are the same in the nom. & acc. sg. and pl. in the manner of other Latin nouns, often third declension Latin nouns, made into B. adjectives, e.g. –formis,-e (adj.B), q.v.:

NOTE: since –rete is a neuter third declension noun, the singular and plural masc. & fem. is invented as for other adjs. such as –cornis,-e, q.v.; -formis,-e; -dens,-dentis, q.v.; -frons,-frondis, q.v., etc.

              singular                     plural

Dat.  -reti                                -retibus
Acc.  [m/f] –retis, [n] -rete       [m/f] –retes, [n.]-retia
Abl.  -reti                               -retibus

- ampliretis,-e, with big nets, areolation, reticulations = grandiretis,-e = magniretis,-e.

- angustiretis, with narrow walls; crassiretis,-e with thick areolation, with thick walls; densiretis,-e with dense areolation; densiretis, with dense reticulum; grossiretis, with thick (coarse) network, areolation, walls; laxiretis, with lax walls; minutiretis, with tiny areolation; obscuriretis, with network indistinct, unclear; parviretis, with small nets; pellucidiretis, with pellucid, transparent walls, areolation; pulchriretis, with a beautiful net, network; tenuiretis, with thin walls, thin-walled.

NOTE: in the following examples, epithets ending in –retis,-e (adj.B) are mostly among bryophyte genera where the leaf areolation is of taxonomic importance:

A. With masc. or fem. genera: -retis;

Masc. Anomodon grandiretis; Campylopus ampliretis; Ceratodon grossiretis; Chiloscyphus minutiretis; Echinocactus teretispinus; Glossadelphus angustiretis; Oncophorus laxiretis.

Fem. Amblystegiella crassiretis; Barbula grandiretis; Bartramia densiretis; Dicranella laxiretis; Grimmia crassiretis; Lejeunea grossiretis; Lophozia grandiretis; Mylia densiretis.

B. With neuter genera: -rete;

Hymenostylium laxirete Broth., in reference to the lax areolation or pattern of the cells of the leaf.

Achrophyllum crassirete; Acromastigium longirete; Acroporium monoicum var. laxirete; Acroporium scalarirete, Amblystegium laxirete; versirete] Anastrophyllum minutirete; Anoetangium magnirete; Anomobryum latirete; Blepharostoma brevirete; Drachymenium densirete; Bryum grandirete; Bryum latirete; Bryum laxirete.
