A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Sack (Eng. noun): “= sac” (Jackson); “a large usu. rectangular bag of coarse strong material used to store and ship goods; a small container made of paper, plastic, or other similar material used to contain various kinds of merchandise” (WIII); derived from a series of older Germanic words all derived from L. saccus, sack, bag, from Gk. sakkos, “sack, bag” (WIII). Sack is a synonym of sac, but ‘sac’ is more often used in biology; see sac; see pouch.

Sack, little, or little bag: bursicula,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. bursicula, bursicle, bursicule, q.v., “a pouch-like receptacle;” crumilla,-ae (s.f.I), a small purse or pouch; sacculus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. sacculo.

sack, provided with: bursatus,-a,-um (adj.A), bursiculatus,-a,-um (adj.A), marsupiatus,-a,-um (adj.A), saccatus,-a,-um (adj.A), sacculatus,-a,-um (adj.A).

like a little sac in shape: sacculiformis,-e (adj.B).

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
