sempervirens,-entis (part.B), semper virens,-entis (part.B) [> L. semper, always + virens, fresh, vigorous]: evergreen; see ‘evergreen;

- Нaec planta magnam habet similitudinem cum Veronica petraea, semper virente Pon. Bald. fol. СССXXXVI, ut asserit idem Bauhinus (Mich.), this plant has a great similitude with Veronica petraea, always green [i.e. never withered] Pon. Bald. fol. CCCXXXVI, so Bauhin claims [i.e. asserts] the same thing.

- Arbor sempervirens elatior (F.Muell.) a taller evergreen tree.

- frutex alte volubilis sempervirens (F. Muell.), an evergreen shrub high twining.

- Franca maritima, fupina, faxatilis, glauca, Ericoides, semper virens, flore albo (Mich.), Franca maritima, supine, growing on rock, glaucous, Erica-like [i.e. like heather], always green, with a white flower.

- (Cheiropsis] frutex elegans sempervirens super arbores sepesque scandens (DeCandolle), an elegant shrub, evergreen, climbing upon trees and hedges.

- [Illicieae] frutices sempervirentes glaberrimi(DeCandolle), evergreen shrubs, completely glabrous.

- herbae perennes sempervirentes tenerae, succo croceo acri foetae (DeCandolle), perennial herbs, always green [i.e. evergreen], tender, filled with an acrid crocus-colored sap.

- Herbae biennes, sempervirentes, glaucae, succo croceo acri scatentes (DeCandolle), biennial herbs, evergreen, glaucous, filled with an acid crocus-[i.e. saffron-] colored juice.

- Ramis volubilibus glaucescentibus, foliis sempervirentibus (Boissier), with the branches twining, somewhat glaucous, with the leaves evergreen.

- [Herba] Sempervlrens, quae folia non deponit, nisi novis renascentibus, ut Viola. Quaedam hyeme folia deponunt, sed restibili radicis foecunditate regerminant, & nova folia promunt (Tourn.), [an herb is called] Sempervirens, that does not drop its leaves, except by regrowing new ones, as the Violet. Some leaves drop down in winter, but with the renewed fecundity of the root, regerminate, and put forth new leaves.
