A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
sepaloideus,-a,-um (adj.A): sepal-like, having the nature of a sepal; resembling the sepals in color and texture; = sepalinus,-a,-um (adj.A);

- bracteae saepe 2-3 ad basin pedunculi brunneo-scariosae v. foliiformes, 1-3 sub calyce parvae v. sepaloideae (B&H), the bracts often 2-3 at the base of the peduncle, brown-scarious or leaf-like, 1-3 below the calyx small or resembling sepals.

-[Saccopetalum] petala 6, biseriatim valvata, exteriora parva, sepaloidea (B&H), petals 6, valvate in two rows, the exterior [petals] small, sepaloid [i.e. resembling sepals].

- perianthii segmenta 2-oo, omnia petaloidea v. exteriora sepaloidea (B&H), the segments of the perianth 2-[numerous], all resembling petals or the outer ones like sepals.

- bracteae saepe 2-3 ad basin pedunculi brunneo-scariosae v. foliiformes, 1-3 sub calyce parvae v. sepaloideae (B&H), the bracts often 2-3 at the base of the peduncle, brown-scarious or leaf-like.

- flores sessiles, solitarii, minimi, bracteolis 2-3 sepaloideis cincti (B&H), the flowers sessile, solitary, tiny, surrounded by 2-3 sepal-like bracteoles.

- petala dum adsint sepaloidea cum lobis calycinis alternantia (B&H), the petals when present having the nature of a sepal, alternating with the calyx lobes.
