A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
stipulaneus,-a,-um (adj.A): stipulaneous, stipulane, taking the place of stipules, formed by the transformation of stipules; stipulaneous, ‘resulting from the transformation of a stipule; cf. pseudo-stipule’ (Jackson); see pseudostipule;

- spina stipulanea, stipulaneous spine (as in Capparis, Acacia, etc.) (Stearn).

A stipulane or stipulaneous perula (i.e. bud scale): perula (s.f.I) stipulanea, “Formed of stipules. Persicaria, Carpinus, Ficus” [S. Gray].

 

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
