A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

Stirp (English noun): “a race. A permanent variety: as the Red Cabbage [Brassica oleracea var. capitata f. rubra]” (Lindley); lineage; a line descending from a common ancestor: stock; “the sum of the determinants of whatever nature in a fertilized egg” (WIII): stirps (s.f.III), q.v. gen. sg. stirpis;

- hi characteres tamen plus minus obvii sunt in plurimis aliis speciebus sectionis Hibbertiae, etsi non omnes in eadem stirpe (B&H), yet these characters are more or less encountered in very many other species of the section Hibbertia, although not all on the same stock [i.e. lineage].

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
