A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

superfusus,-a,-um (part.A): poured over, poured upon; spread or scattered over; inundated [> L. superfundo,-fudi,-dusum, 3: to pour over or upon; spreading or scattered over; to pour or spread one thing over another (Lewis & Short); (obsolete) to pour or be poured so as to cover something]; see superfundens,-entis (part.B);

- [algae] Hab. ad saxa et in scrobiculis aqua vix superfusis, in caepites minutos collecta, it dwells on stones and in small depressions scarcely poured over by water, gathered together in minute clumps.

- [algae] Hab. in scrobiculis parum profundis, unda saepe superfusis soleque maxime expositis utriusque maris (Agardh), in rather deep trenches, often inundated by the tide and exposed to the maximum sun of both seas.

- semel inventa species pulchra terrestris, foliis siccis aliisque quisquiliis superfusa (S&A), a beautiful terrestrial species found one time, spread over dry leaves and other fallen matter.

- ramuli quam in illo tenuiores et minus rigidi, folia angustiora haud glaucedine superfusa, caryopsides longiores nunquam laevigatae et nuspiam splendentes sunt (F. Muell.), the branchlets more thin than in that one, and less rigid, the leaves more narrow, hardly overspread with glaucescence [i.e. a bloom], the caryopses longer, never smooth, and are nowhere glittering [i.e. shining with an interrupted surface].

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
