ten: "the cardinal numerals unus (1), duo (2) and tres (3) are declined; the others from quatuor (4) to centum (100) are used unchanged whatever the gender and case of the noun which they qualify ." (Stearn 1983); decem (num. adj. indecl.) 'ten;'

- intra decem annos, during ten years.

- inter decem horas, within ten hours.

- coloniae aetate duarum hebdomadum vel usque ad decem hebdomades, colonies at the age of two or up to ten weeks.

- vacuolae apicales contractiles decem, apical contractile vacuoles ten.

- vacuolis apicalibus contractilibus decem, with apical contractile vacuoles ten.

- sepalis quinque et staminibus decem, with sepals five and stamens ten.
ten times, tenfold: decies (adv.), deciens (adv.).
ten-:

In L. comp., decem-:

- decemdentatus, 10-toothed; decemfidus,-a,-um (adj.A), ten cleft; decemfolius, with ten leaves; decemlocularis, with ten cells, as in an ovary.

- decemjugis,-e (adj.B), ten-yoked, ten joined together, as a chariot with ten horses in five pairs, i.e. the objects joined are ten (the pairs only five); [decemjugis,-is (s.m.III), a ten-horse chariot (Lewis & Short)]; decemsepalus, with ten sepals.

- decemmestris,-e (adj.A), of ten months.

- December, gen. sg. Decembris (s.m.III), abl. sg. Decembre, December, the 12th month of the year; also, as an (adj.B) adjective modifying mensis (s.m.III), month), mensis Decembris, abl. sg. mense Decembri, the December month.

In Gk. comp., deca-:

- decandrus, 10-stamened, decantherus, with ten anthers; decodontus, with ten teeth.

- decagynus, with ten styles or carples; decapetalus, with 10 petals; decamerus, in tens, with ten parts, in sets of tens; decaphyllus, 10-leaved; decasepalus, with ten sepals; decaspermus, decaspermicus, with ten seeds.

- decarinus,-a,-um (adj.A), “Necker’s term for ten stamens and one pistil [> Gk. arrEn, male] (Jackson).
ten, group of: decas, gen.sg. decadis (s.f.III), nom. pl. decades, gen. pl. decadum: a decade, or group of ten. In a set of dried specimens (exsiccat), any seried group of ten; cf. decuria,-ae (s.f.I) 'decade, set of ten.'
