A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
-tomia,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. tomia: in Gk. comp. cutting, incision, section [> Gk. -tomos, a cutting, incision]; see -tomy (English noun suffix);

- craniotomia: craniotomy, surgical section of the cranium; laparotomia: laparotomy, surgical section of the abdominal wall; sclerotomia: sclerotomy, surgical cutting to the sclera).

- anatomia,-ae (s.f.I) dissection [> Gk. anatomE, dissection; from anatemnein, to dissect, from ana- + temnein to cut]

- anatomia costae strata stereidarum duo exhibens, dissection of the costa exhibits two layers of stereids.
