A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Triangle: triangulum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. triangulo; triangulus,-i (s.m.II), abl. sg. triangulo; trigonum,-i (s.n.II), abl.sg. trigono, q.v.;

- triangulum,-i (s.n.II) aequilaterale (adj.B), abl. sg. triangulo aequilaterali, an equilateral triangle [i.e. with all sides equal].

- triangulus,-i (s.m.II) aequilaterus, abl. sg. triangulo aequilatero, an equilateral triangle.

- triangulum,-i (s.n.II) aequicrurium (adj.A), abl. sg. triangulo aequicrurio, an isosceles triangle [i.e. with two sides equal].

- folia caulina minuta, aequilateraliter vel breviter aequicruri-triangula, (Warnst.), stem leaves minute, equilaterally or shortly isosceles-triangular.

Rectiangulum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. rectiangulo: a right-angled triangle [rectus + angulus] (Lewis & Short).

NOTE: the "sides" of a triangle also may use 'latus, gen.sg. lateris' as well as “leg:” crus, gen.sg. cruris (s.n.III), q.v., abl. sg. crure;

- folia caulina triangula lateribus vel cruribus aequalibus, the cauline leaves triangular with the sides or legs equal.

Note also tricarinatus,-a,-um (adj.A): with three keels.

NOTE: aequipedus,-a,-um (adj.A), aequipes,-edis (adj.B): ‘having equal feet, isosceles (of a triangle)” (Lewis & Short);

- triangulum aequipedum, an isosceles triangle.

- triangulum aequipes, abl. pl. triangulo aequipedi, an isosceles triangle.
