A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

virens,-entis (part.B): being green [> L. vireo,-ui,-ere: to be green or verdant; to be fresh, vigorous or lively (not withered); to flourish, bloom].

virent: third-person plural present active indicative: they are green, they flourish;

- seminula tecta adhuc operculo virent; accedente demum liberiori aere sensim sensimque luteolo fuscidulum indipiscuntur colorem (Hedw.), the seedlets [i.e. spores] as yet covered with an operculum are green; when finally coming near to the freer air, step by step [i.e. gradually and gradually] they acquire a yellowish-, blackish-brown color.

saturate-virens,-entis (part.B), “green as grass; a full deep green” (Jackson).

sempervirens,-entis (part.B), semper virens,-entis (part.B) [> L. semper, always + virens, fresh, vigorous]: evergreen, q.v.

A work in progress, presently with preliminary A through R, and S, and with S (in part) through Z essentially completed.
