A Grammatical Dictionary of Botanical Latin

 
Wound: ictus,-us (s.m.IV), q.v., abl. sg. ictu,'stab, bite, sting';

laesio,-onis (s.f.III), abl. sg. laesione; noxa,-ae (s.f.I), abl. sg. noxa 'injury,

hurt, harm, damage;' sauciatio,-onis (s.f.III), abl. sg. sauciatione, a wounding;

vulnus,-eris (s.n.III), abl. sg. vulnere, nom. & acc. pl. vulnera; cf. -tymma,

-atis (s.n.III), tymmat-, tymmato-: in Gk. comp. a blow [> Gk. tymma,-atos

(s.n.III), a wound, a blow, stroke; see sting, ulcer;

- ex vulnere moriens, dying from a wound.

NOTE: ictu hebeti, a blow that bruises and does not pierce [ictus, gen. sg. ictus

(s.m.IV), a blow, stroke, stab, hit + hebes, gen. sg. hebetis 'dull'].

Wound, a slight or little: vulnusculum,-i (s.n.II), abl. sg. vulnusculo.
