Endemism: Asteraceae

Duidaea is a genus of the Asteraceae (tribe Mutisieae), known only from two tepui summits in central Amazonas state. Three species occur on the summit of Cerro Duida, including the hummingbird-pollinated Duidaea rubriceps shown here. The fourth species occurs nearby on the higher summit of Cerro Marahuaka. The related genus Gongylolepis includes G. jauaensis, purported to be bat-pollinated, which would be novel for this family.
